How do we already buy fun school supplies? Although we feel like going back to school surprises us every year, in the time lag that has taken place over the past two years, we are particularly excited at the moment. So depending on where you live in the country, now is almost the time to pick out some new lunch bags, backpacks, binders, shirts, pencils, clothes, calculators and colored pencils – not to mention that we will still need face masks and hand sanitizer.
But whether you (and your kids) love it or hate it, back-to-school shopping is always a must, so why not make it fun by choosing some really fun school supplies as well? Here’s our very special Jedi tip: You focus on some very special novelty items, like a dragon-headed stapler or pencil cases that look like food, then turn your brain off to load your cart with the required list of felts. broad-line tipped pens and spiral notebooks. Then when you bring home your bags from the store or you and your kids open the Amazon box on your doorstep, there will be something they will be excited to see. It’s also a great way to banish anxiety about all the weird new changes they’ll be facing in a new classroom.
As back to school looks different for us this year again, our list of fun school supplies to buy is also growing. Going to a classroom means they will continue to wear children’s face masks and need cords to hold these masks in place. You’ll probably want to buy several to keep them clean, and you won’t have to worry about one of them getting lost at home or at school.
If you have chosen to teach your child at home, there is still potential for some fun school supplies. You can get dumber pens and pencils that teachers might consider distractions in the classroom. You can keep your kids’ schedules intact with dry erase boards. And you can keep everyone in the house happier with each other with a good pair of headphones with microphones that can make Zoom calls a million times less boring.
So while back to school is looming over you, we challenge you not to get excited about the school supplies we’ve gathered ahead of time.
