SAN ANTONIO — A young elementary school student from Stone Oak noticed a need and decided to do something about it.
Andres Vasconcellos, a second-grade student at Stone Oak Elementary School, started the new school year with a little donation, in the form of backpacks full of school supplies to help children in our community.
“He noticed that the kids in his class last year didn’t have all the supplies they needed,” a NEISD Facebook post said. “So he spent the summer collecting donations and gathering supplies. With the help of his community and classmates, he collected and distributed 60 backpacks full of supplies just in time for the new school year.”
“It was really a community effort,” said Elisa, Andres’ mother. “He may have been the spearhead, but many of his classmates in the bilingual program and the community all did it with their time and donations.”
An act of kindness can go a long way.
Please join us in thanking Andres for making a difference in our community.
