Four Peaks Brewing Co.’s non-profit organization, Four Peaks For Teachers, distributed 200 free school supply kits to Las Cruces teachers at an event in mid-August at the Pic Quik store on Don Roser Drive in Las Cruces. The company also provided a $1,000 grant to Maria Perez-Luna, a ninth-grade English teacher at Centennial High School, to pay for classroom supplies.

Perez-Luna was one of 11 teachers from across the country chosen from thousands of applications to receive the grant. She was chosen, Four Peaks Brewing Company said in an email, “because she gives 110 per cent every day, she is able to connect with every student she meets, she helps students who have special educational needs, she has a meaningful program that engages students who are not interested in English or school, moreover, she makes everyone feel welcome and included. comfortable and has a passion and love for teaching.”

The 200 school supply kits contained reams of paper, pencils, pens, staples and other essential school supplies, Four Peaks said.

The event was part of Four Peaks’ 11th annual For Peaks For Teachers initiative which began in May, raising funds to distribute 10,000 free school supply kits to teachers in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, of Nevada and Utah.
