Back-to-school supplies drive sends $ 62,000 to schools

Santa Barbara area teachers welcoming students to their class this fall will do so with more than $ 62,000 raised by the local nonprofit Teachers Fund.

This year’s annual back-to-school campaign was particularly important – and necessary – as teachers purchased new tools, learning materials and equipped their classrooms for students making the transition to learning. in person. Community members and local businesses responded eagerly to calls for help, bringing the total donation beyond the goal of $ 60,000.

Donors have also sponsored requests from individual teachers to enrich their learning through subscriptions specializing in art, languages ​​and mathematics; more comfortable, with adjustable work benches and class rugs; and adaptable to new indoor-outdoor learning environments.

“I am delighted that the students are back in the classroom, alongside friends and the rest of the school community, where they learn best and have strong in-person support,” said Village’s real estate agent. “It’s a team effort, and this team works so hard to make sure that as many classrooms as possible get the support they badly need,” said Grubb.

All money raised through fundraising goes directly to local kindergarten until 12e elementary teachers to help them purchase educational materials that enhance their students’ learning.

The Teachers Fund was established in 2002 by the owners of Village Properties to enable teachers to request essential supplies for their classrooms. Since then, the Teacher’s Fund has donated over $ 1.8 million to schools in the Santa Barbara area, with 100% of funds raised going directly to teachers for their classrooms.
