CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – Bishop England High School announced Tuesday that it is returning to virtual learning on Wednesday, December 9 and has canceled all extracurricular activities “due to several students testing positive for COVID-19”.
The decision was made on Monday, after officials were told of another student who tested positive for COVID-19.
Principal Patrick Finneran sent a letter to parents assuring them that “the school has followed the previous protocol of contacting the families of pupils considered to have close contact, and these pupils will be quarantined for the next fourteen days”.
Finneran went on to say that “The health and safety of our school community is our top priority, so we need your help. The partnership between home and school is essential. If your child starts showing symptoms or gets a positive test result, we ask that you contact the school. This information will allow us to communicate any future concerns to students considered to have close contacts. ”
The school will remain 100% virtual for the remainder of the semester, which ends on December 17th.
Students will operate on a rotating schedule and use Microsoft teams.
Extracurricular activities, which include all workouts and games, are canceled until further notice.
This includes basketball games scheduled for December 10.e and 17e.
