Community donations are needed for the “Stuff the bus” school supply drive

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Eastern Ohio Educational Service Center held a school supply drive on Saturday. This is their first annual “Stuff the Bus” campaign.

A Boardman school bus was parked on the Akron Children’s Hospital campus.

The community was encouraged to bring various items to ensure a successful school year.

Items will be donated to local districts with students in foster care or foster care.

ESC prevention coordinator Ashley Mariano said “Stuff the Bus” is about improving learning environments.

“We want to make sure everyone has an equitable learning environment and with vulnerable and at-risk young people…when you think of homestay and homestay students, they definitely rise to the top of this list,” Mariano said.

The event took place in the parking lot of the Mahoning Valley Campus for Children in Akron on Saturday at Boardman from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In a press release, organizers asked community members to donate new supplies such as markers, pencils, pens, pencils, notebooks, dry erase markers, headphones, binders and notebook paper.
