Cuba First Baptist offers backpacks with school supplies | County of Alléganie

CUBA – Cuba First Baptist will once again be offering free backpacks filled with school supplies to children in Kindergarten to Grade 5 in the Cuba-Rushford Central School District.

Organizers said after a year and a half of unrest, there is hope that the children will return to class. Either way, they said, “the children of our neighborhoods deserve all the tools available to help them in their learning.”

The backpacks will be filled with items that are the most requested supplies by the majority of Cuba-Rushford teachers.

Any interested parent or guardian should call (585) 567-2706 or (585) 968-3061 to ask questions and to register. Leave a message if necessary as calls will be returned.

Hours will be allocated for a pickup on August 14 between 9 a.m. and noon. Registered parents / guardians can collect backpacks at assigned times in the community room using the Spring Street entrance.

The organizers are asking parents to bring their children’s list (school year 2021-22) so that kits and notebooks can be provided to those who need them.

Anyone interested in helping support this mission can do so financially by sending their donation to the church. Checks should be made payable to: Cuba First Baptist with SCHOOL SUPPLIES in the memo line. Mail to 17 South St., Cuba, NY, 14727. Donations can also be dropped off at church on Tuesday or Thursday, 9 am to 2 pm.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only financial donations can be accepted again this year. The cost of filling the backpacks is around $ 30 each (including the bag).
