Many local leaders are looking to help students as they prepare for the 2022-2023 school year.
TEXAS, USA – August is approaching and so is the next school year, so supplies shopping is underway.

The way these prices are set, however, it seems like they are trying to teach people’s wallets a lesson.
However, some local events are looking to help families prepare for 2022-23. Here’s where you can buy new backpacks, supplies, and more in the Dallas-Fort Worth area:
Saturday July 30
Dallas ISD students can prepare for the new school year with HHM Health. Of 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., children can get free school supplies, transparent backpacks, school medical examinations and vaccinations. (Note: children must be present to obtain a backpack)
Community members can also savor the last moments of summer with snow scones and other free items from local vendors.

friday august 5
The Dallas Mayor’s Back-to-School Fair provides school supplies to Dallas families in need. This year’s fair will be held on Friday, August 5 at Fair Park’s Centennial and Automobile Buildings.
Important: In order to receive the supplies, you must pre-register before Monday August 1st.
Saturday August 6
Abundant Life Church holds its annual Community Health Fair and Back to School Party. All parents and children are invited to receive free school supplies, a backpack, health examinations, vaccinations.
The fair will also include halls and games in addition to food, prizes and inflatable games.
This event will take place from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. It’s a free event, but attendees must register in advance.

Sunday August 7
Chosen Vessel Cathedral Church invites everyone to their Back 2 School Bash, not only for supplies, but also for prayer and support.
The event will take place from 1-3 p.m. at the church, providing students with free school supplies (including 500 backpacks), haircuts for school-aged students, and community resources.
“Everything you need, two-pencil notebooks, mechanical pencils, crayons, crayons, notepads, USB drives,” said youth pastor Erick Bowens.

Saturday August 13
The For Oak Cliff organization aims to go above and beyond with its 8th annual Infinity Back to School Festival.
Starting at 10 a.m., the event will provide free backpacks to 3,000 students, in addition to other school supplies. They will be “first come, first served” and students are obligatory have a bracelet.
To note: The organization told the WFAA that it was ordering backpacks months before Dallas ISD announced its need for transparent and mesh backpacks.
While you’re there, grab a plate or two of free food (vegan options included) and some snow cones. Kids can enjoy the bouncy house, dunk tank and more while teens and parents can attend job fairs. There will also be live performances and opportunities for voter registration and health screenings.
