Discount of backpacks and school supplies during the Super Saturday event | New

Child Support Services is hosting a Super Saturday event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on August 13 to give away hundreds of backpacks full of school supplies to all children who attend., while stocks last. The event will take place at the central office of the Department of Child Support Services, at 3666 Kearny Villa Road.

August is Child Support Awareness Month and Child Support Services wants to celebrate by helping children in the community. The purpose of the gift is to alleviate the financial cost associated with returning to school and to build a child’s confidence and self-esteem to enable them to successfully enter the school year. Child Support Services recognizes that local families may still experience the financial impact of not only the pandemic, but also the increased costs associated with basic living expenses.

For the special Super Saturday event, services are also available for parents in San Diego. Many departmental partners will be present at the event:

  • Live Well on Wheels Mobile Bus to Help with Aid Eligibility
  • Office of Emergency Services to provide disaster preparedness information
  • County Human Resources Department to provide job opportunities
  • Animal services to help families adopt a pet (adoption fees waived in August)
  • Public Defender’s Fresh Start Program to Help Lighten Criminal Records

Child Support Services will also be available to share details of programs including High School Graduation Support, Parents Invest in Education and Youth with Dreams.

Child Support Services thanks all county agencies participating in this year’s Super Saturday and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department for their donations.
