Bridge the Gap collects school supplies

BRIDGETON – Bridge the Gap is hosting its annual backpacks / school supplies drive to benefit students at Bridgeton Elementary School. The deadline for donations is August 28.

Each backpack will include the following items: a thematic notebook, a pack of 24 pencils, a pack of 12 colored pencils; 10 pencils, a pencil sharpener, two large erasers, a ruler, two glue sticks, a large pencil box and two pocket hand sanitizers.

Donations of backpacks with the above items included or the donation of any of the rated items will be appreciated.

Entries available for Soroptimist’s Live Your Dream Awards

Soroptimist’s Live Your Dream Rewards Program is a unique educational award for women who provide the primary financial support to their families. The awards give women the resources they need to improve their education, skills and job prospects.

The scholarships provide help with tuition, books, transportation, and / or childcare.

The deadline to apply is November 15th.

Soroptimist International Cumberland County also gives awards to women in the county each year.

Salvation Army Vineland collects school supplies

Salvation Army Vineland is seeking donations of school supplies for their Back to School Bash for local school children in need.

Supplies needed include: backpacks, # 2 pencils, erasers, erasable pens, printing paper, pens, flash cards, rulers, calculators, glue sticks, scissors safety, duct tape, pencils, hood erasers, hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes, agendas, tissues, highlighters, spiral notebooks, colored pencils, index cards, 3-ring binders, kits of paint, colored markers, lined paper, USB sticks, composition notebooks, construction paper, white paper, white glue, pencil sharpeners, pocket folders, washable markers, dry erase markers and pocket folders.

Donations will be accepted until August 27 at 733 E. Chestnut Ave.

The CCAYMCA is organizing the start of the school year

VINELAND – The third annual back-to-school year will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on August 26 at the Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA.

Everyone is welcome to participate in this free, family-friendly event that will help kids prepare for the new school year.

Notebooks, binders, paper, writing materials, pencil cases, children’s scissors, hand sanitizers and more will be distributed.

CCAYMCA is at 1159 E. Landis Ave.
