Don’t Miss the Bus collects school supplies for local students | Education

Collecting school supplies Do not miss the bus is back.

The collection began on June 1 and will continue until July 22.

For several years, Bluegrass Cellular put together the drive that helped meet the need for school supplies in the area.

In 2020, Bluegrass Cellular was acquired by Verizon and Don’t Miss the Bus fell.

This year, the Heart of Kentucky Association of Realtors, Quicksie 98.3 and 94.3 The Wolf decided to bring back the annual event.

“We decided to bring this back, let’s see what we can do to try to fill this school supply hole,” said Kevin Clark, president of the Heart of Kentucky Association of Realtors. “When this program was discontinued, it was just a gaping hole. Hopefully we can do a little to fill that stash this year.

Clark said several brokerages and affiliates of the Heart of Kentucky Association of Realtors set up boxes to collect the supplies. School supply donations can also be dropped off at the Heart of Kentucky Realtors office, 5375 N. Dixie Highway, Elizabethtown, or the radio station office, 233 W. Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown.

He said donation drop-off locations are shared on the Heart of Kentucky Realtors Facebook page.

Examples of items donors can donate include thumb drives, headphones, loose-leaf paper, spiral notebooks, backpacks, glue sticks, crayons, and crayons.

Clark said the supplies collected will go to area schools and be distributed through family resource centers.
