First 5 San Bernardino recently hosted a drive-thru event at Ecclesia Christian Fellowship in San Bernardino, distributing over 535 backpacks and 600 Kinder kits.
Hundreds of vehicles lined up for the event that provided basic school supplies for preschool and kindergarten children.
“The turnout has been huge, and I think it directly reflects how great the need is right now, especially for parents with young children,” said Karen E. Scott, Executive Director of First 5 San Bernardino, in a press release.
“We knew it was important to provide these much-needed school supplies to our local families so that children could feel supported and have access to essentials when they start Kindergarten and Kindergarten,” Scott said.
The backpacks and Kinder kits contained school supplies such as scissors, pencils, pencils, glue sticks, large erasers, pencil boxes and books.
Representatives from other community organizations were present at the event, including people from SAC Health and the Inland Empire Health Plan, who administered the COVID-19 vaccines.
First 5 San Bernardino funds organizations that help families achieve optimal health for their children from birth to age 5, including referrals to early learning centers and a variety of family supports such as health screenings of children, the education of parents and the commitment of fatherhood.
