Free school supplies in Tampa Bay

With inflation on the rise and back to school less than two weeks away, every dollar saved on school supplies is a plus.

Several Florida businesses and nonprofits provide them for free around Tampa Bay.

Here’s where to find events — and free school supplies:


St. Petersburg Junior League Back-to-School Fair: Physical and medical screenings are available as well as backpacks full of school supplies. 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Evara Health at Johnnie Ruth Clarke, 1344 22nd Street S., St. Petersburg.

Backpacks at the Tropicana: Saturday Morning Shoppe and Live Love St. Pete are giving away 2,000 backpacks full of school supplies from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on August 6 at Tropicana Field, 1 Tropicana Drive, St. Petersburg. Learn more at and


Back to school party 2022: K-12 students can attend to receive a backpack full of school supplies, a physical exam, and a meal — all free — from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. The event is at 7454 Palm River Road, Tampa. 813-628-9179.

Future Billionaire Back 2 School Bash: Free eye exams and glasses for children aged 5 to 17. The first 100 children to complete the scavenger hunt receive a free backpack filled with school supplies. Backpacks at Raymond James: The Bullard Family Foundation will be celebrating the 5th Annual Back to School Party presented by AdventHealth and Skanska at Raymond James Stadium, 4201 N. Mabry Hwy., Tampa, at 9 a.m. on August 6.

Get a free backpack full of school supplies and enjoy free medical, dental, and vision services, plus free haircuts, food, and entertainment. Families must register for medical, dental and eye services. To register, visit

Back-to-school party: Celebration Church in Tampa will host a back-to-school party with bouncy houses, haircuts, games and raffles as well as free backpacks for the first 200 students. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Celebration Church, 16235 Lake Magdalene Blvd., Tampa (813) 961-0910.

Ayr’Reka Angels Homecoming Party: Students can prepare to return to class with free haircuts and braids, HIV tests, health screenings, notary services, school supplies and blood collection. Noon to 5 p.m. on August 6 at 6503 N. 15th St., Tampa. 813-454-5374.

Around Tampa Bay

Open house and back-to-school expo: Families can visit local exhibitors providing information on school resources such as before/after school activities, health, wellness, safety and more. Children will enjoy the hands-on activities and games. The first 200 school-age children will receive a free backpack and school supplies. 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Florida Penguins’ Homecoming Extravaganza: Free backpacks and school supplies in Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco counties. The event includes 250 backpacks sponsored by Florida Penguin Productions at each location. Children can indulge in face painting and other activities.
