House of Carpenter is donating school supplies, haircuts and clothes for the new school year

Wheeling, W. Va. (WTRF)-As summer draws to a close and children prepare for the new year, many back-to-school events lighten the load on parents, and the House of Carpenter in Wheeling wanted to be part of it to help.

The House of Carpenter’s “Fresh Look for School” gives back to Island children.

The event offers free school supplies, of course, but that’s not all.

The event also helps her in other ways. It offers new haircuts, clothes, underwear, hygiene products and food. Everything is free for families. As a result, the event does a lot for the parents, but even more for the children.

“Children on the island, we have a really special relationship with them, and we know that some parents are struggling, especially right now, with rising prices. It gives the kids the opportunity to have new clothes, new haircuts, new school supplies, and they’re good to go.

Michelle Lucarelli, Associate Director of House of Carpenter

150 children registered in advance for this event.

The House of Carpenter is grateful to all of its community partners who participated in the event, and they plan to do it again next year.
