How to save on back-to-school supplies at Target this year

While we feel like we’re celebrating the start of summer vacation, back to school is slowly approaching and will be here before your kids are even fully unpacked from their latest camp adventure. So it’s time to start thinking about packing all those backpacks, notebooks, and other essentials that will help kids succeed this school year.

Fortunately, Target is making it even easier for parents, students, and teachers to prepare for back to school, with a huge selection of new items plus savings for students and teachers on all kinds of back-to-school essentials. And the retailer gave Shop TODAY an exclusive preview of what’s to come.

“We know back to school is a big milestone for millions of families across the country – and we’re here to help by introducing even more ways for customers to save and find everything they need in one convenient place,” Jill Sando, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at Target, said in a statement. “From supplies and stylish apparel to snacks and the latest electronics, customers can count on Target to make the most of their budget, with thousands of items under $10.”

Target Teacher Preparation Event

For educators, Target is bringing back its teacher preparation event, which will run from July 17 to September 10 (nearly six weeks longer than last year’s event). Teachers can save 15% on school supplies like pens, notebooks, and arts and crafts, plus other classroom essentials like hand sanitizer, masks disposables, snacks and Pillowfort furniture. Those who are eligible for savings include all K-12 and homeschool teachers, those who work in child care centers and early learning centers, teachers and professors at vocational schools or technicians working in universities or colleges. If you qualify, all you have to do is join Target’s Circle loyalty program (it’s free!) and verify that you’re a teacher. Then you can start saving through the Circle app!

Target student discounts

Students can also save big on essentials through Target Circle. This year, the retailer is increasing its discount for students from 15% to 20%. So from July 3 through September 3, they can save big on a one-time purchase of dorm essentials, school supplies, and more.
