The Kenosha Unified School District has very cautiously canceled tonight’s after-school activities in the city following the verdict in Kyle Rittenhouse’s trial.
Outside of town, after school events will go as planned.
“As you may know, the verdict of the Rittenhouse trial has been announced. We don’t know what this will do for our community, but we hope everything remains calm and peaceful,” the district said in a prepared statement. .
“We will continue to work with local law enforcement to determine any security concerns, as well as monitor the situation over the weekend, to determine if an extension of e-learning is needed for any of these. our schools.
“Although we have not been made aware of any imminent danger that exists, we have decided to cancel all extracurricular activities taking place tonight at KUSD schools or in our community for the safety and well-being of all. “
Any event or field trip taking place outside of town will proceed as planned. Parents / guardians can choose whether their child participates in these activities.
“If you think your child needs extra support next week, please contact your child’s school office so they can arrange a meeting with your child’s counselor,” the district said.
