On August 21, the group will provide free covid-19 tests and back-to-school supplies to students in the Triad area at Barber Park in Greensboro.

Co-founder Shannell Lucas said the goal was to get as many people tested as possible.

“It’s just to prepare the environment, to prepare the community, because you never know if you are wearing it. If you had it, you just want to raise awareness and because it is our precious children who are returning to school, we want to make sure they’re safe and we’re not harming anyone, ”Lucas explained.

Those tested will get same-day results as well as a bracelet for free food.

The “I AM” Foundation will also distribute face masks and hand sanitizer.

Lucas said there would be food trucks, vendors, and games for the kids.

“Even though we’re going through a critical time, it’s okay to have fun, to relax and we wanted to deliver that,” Lucas said.

“Let it be in a safe environment. That you can have fun, relax and take safety precautions.

Lucas said the tests are available to anyone who attends.

The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
