Students at Phillips Avenue Elementary School received a donation of school supplies from New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Ethan Greenidge in coordination with Riverhead CAP.

“Kids shouldn’t have to worry about having school supplies,” Greenidge said. “If we can provide simple things like notebooks and pencils, then they can focus on learning. I am grateful for the opportunity to give back and do what I can for the community. I am grateful to my parents and to Jesus for teaching me this.

Greenidge, a 2015 graduate of Riverhead High School, purchased over $ 2,000 in school supplies in partnership with Riverhead CAP President Brian Stark. Greenidge and Stark previously partnered during the school’s closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic and provided gift cards for groceries to families in need.

“We want to send a big thank you to Ethan Greenridge. This generosity has provided all of the students at Phillips Avenue School with a brand new backpack and all the school supplies they need for this school year, ”said Deb Rodgers, Principal of Phillips Avenue Elementary School. “In these difficult times, parents and guardians have been relieved of the expense of school supplies for their children and have been able to focus on the needs of their families. No parent should have to choose between buying school supplies for their children or buying food for their family. ”
