STATEN ISLAND, NY – The deadline to register for the New York Specialized High Schools exam is Friday.

OFFERS

Students usually receive offers for specialized high schools in the spring.

Offers to the eight specialty testing high schools are based on each student’s SHSAT score, the school’s order of preference and the number of seats at each school, according to the DOE. These offers are made to each school in descending order of SHSAT scores until all seats at each school are filled.

The DOE noted that the lowest qualifying score changes each year based on student preferences and SHSAT scores, so students testing for a different year should not use prior scores to determine their chances of qualifying. be offered to one of the specialized schools.
