The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports has granted a grant to the Council of Orihuela in the amount of 65,900 euros to carry out complementary educational activities in the educational centers of the municipality of Orihuela.
The program of activities, which will take place throughout this school year, is aimed at the school population between 3 and 18 years old.
The initiatives included in the program, under development for years and widely accepted and appreciated by the educational community, aim to contribute to the improvement of education in the municipality, at large, through the collaboration between the formal/non-formal education, promotion of equal opportunities, with the participation of entities and institutions working in these areas.
María García, Education Advisor, explained that “in the last quarter of 2022 we will have the ‘Cuentos en Navidad’ competition activity at Christmas, and the ‘Las abarcas desiertas’ competition which is already a classic within from the Department of Education. These, as well as those that will be launched throughout 2023, are complementary activities that promote the educational program of all our school children”.
In 2023, activities to promote scientific competence and culture may be launched through workshops that the MUDIC (Science Museum) will carry out in schools; creativity labs with Pampol Teatre to promote language, artistic and digital skills; promotion of reading through activities organized around the collection of poems that won the International Prize for Poetry for Children “Ciudad de Orihuela” 2022 with its author; “We communicate, we tell” project to develop language skills in multicultural educational contexts; School theater show scheduled for May; Dance week and summer school, among others.
