Pedal for pencils on a bike to raise money for school supplies

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Teacher Supply Warehouse, a Guilford Education Alliance program that provides free classroom supplies to educators.

GREENSBORO, NC – When teachers move into their classrooms, it’s up to them to have their room fully stocked with the supplies their students need throughout the school year.

The average educator spends up to $1,000 of their own money on supplies per year.

To help offset this cost to educators, the Guilford Education Alliance created the Teacher Supply Warehouse.

This is a place where GCS teachers can stop to stock up on school supplies at no charge.

The only way to fill the shelves is through community and corporate donations.

Only two months into the school year and already some warehouse shelves are empty.

Schedule updated! Join us this Saturday at Oden Brewing Company for GREAT local music, beer, food and fun – and it’s all benefiting the Teacher Supply Warehouse!

To help them restock, Oden Brewing Company is hosting a fundraising bike ride on Saturday called Pedaling for Pencils.

The brewery’s head brewer has children in the Guilford County school system and started the ride as a way to support students, teachers and schools.

The second annual walk takes place on October 16 in Oden starting at 8 a.m.

Routes for the 38-mile journey can be found here.

For non-cyclists who want to support, stationary bikes will be outside the brewery so people can ride a mile for five bucks.

All money raised is donated to the Teacher Supply Warehouse.

After the rides, Oden will host a Pencilpalozza with several activities, live music and a food truck.

The Oden Brewing Company matches every registration and donation made to support the warehouse up to $2,500.

Guilford Education Alliance encourages community members and businesses to organize their own supply drives to support educators.

Donations can also be made by calling Guilford Education Alliance at (336) 841-4332.
