Spring ISD Back to School Expo will feature backpacks and school supplies

Spring ISD officials are hosting a back-to-school exhibit from 8 a.m. to noon on July 31 at the District’s Planet Ford Stadium, located at 23802 Cypresswood Drive, Spring.

The event will include free backpacks, school supplies and a food distribution to help district families and students return to classrooms in August.

Officials noted that students would also have the option to sign up for Chromebooks and Internet hotspots during the exhibit.

Spring ISD’s Executive Director for Family Engagement, Tranita Carroll, touted the event.

As always, we are grateful to our community partners whose support helps make events like this possible for our families and Spring ISD students, ”said Carroll, noting that the Harris County public health departments and North West Assistance were among the organizations that participated in the event. “While this year’s event is being scaled down to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and community members, it is still a great opportunity for all of our families as they prepare for day one. school. “

Through the partnership with Harris County Public Health, district officials said students aged 12 and older will also have the opportunity to be vaccinated against COVID-19 at the exhibit. Students vaccinated during the event will be entered into a special raffle.

According to Carroll, this year’s exhibit will be primarily a drive-thru event, with the exception of those who choose to be vaccinated against COVID-19. District staff and administrators will be on hand to help direct traffic, greet students and their parents and guardians, and place items in vehicle trunks. In addition, district staff will assess students whose first language is not English.
