Beginning in fall 2022, the Auburn School District will provide all necessary school supplies for all students. Harnessing the power of buying in bulk, ASD provides pencils, notebooks, pens, headphones, erasers and more. Class-specific school supplies will be distributed during the first week of school and will be replenished throughout the school year. Schools will have supplies for new students who enroll during the school year.
The district made this change as part of its strategy to put equity into action. For some families, the purchase of school supplies strains the family budget. This change provides every student with the appropriate school supplies for learning and removes the burden on families to purchase them.
“We are excited to make sure students have the supplies they need to succeed in school. We believe this is an important step to better support our students and their families,” said Cindi Blansfield, Associate Superintendent for Business and Operations.
If students want to bring supplies, they will be allowed, but all basic school supplies will be provided. The district will spend approximately $600,000 to purchase supplies for all students for the 22-23 school year.
