Tropical Storm Paeng forces suspension of classes and school activities in Albay



LEGAZPI CITY – Classes at all levels and other school activities in Albay province were suspended as tropical storm “Paeng” threatened the Bicol region on Thursday.

In a notice, Albay Governor Noel Rosal said classes at public and private schools from Friday through Sunday will be suspended due to moderate or heavy rain expected.

Local officials have been asked to activate the disaster operations center and prepare residents for a possible evacuation.

Residents were also reminded to buy food and other necessities and to take precautionary measures.

Arnulfo Mascarińas, president of the Bicol University (BU) of this city, declared the suspension of work, courses and other activities, including the entrance examination and all sports competitions in the Olympic Games BU 2022 which started on Wednesday.

All athletes and other delegations were asked to decamp.
