By Ruben Morales Iglesias: “500 students at Carmelita Public School and Santa Martha Public School are being prepared for the new school year well ahead of schedule thanks to a donation from the Office of United States Security Cooperation Humanitarian Assistance Program. United,” the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science said. and Technology (MoECST) on Wednesday.
The US Embassy said it delivered 500 backpacks full of school supplies to students in the villages of Carmelita and Santa Martha in the Orange Walk district.
“Funded by the American people through the U.S. Southern Command Humanitarian Assistance Program (SOUTHCOM), this donation ensures that children in these rural communities are ready to successfully return to the classroom,” noted the States Embassy. -United.
“Pandemic recovery is about both health security and getting our lives back on track in education, business and government. This means helping children equip themselves for face-to-face learning in the classroom. From vaccines to backpacks to school supplies, the United States has been a strong supporter of Belize’s pandemic recovery efforts.
The MoECST said there was no doubt that students, parents and teachers from both schools were extremely grateful for the donation.
“The long-standing relationship between the Ministry of Education and our US partners is only strengthened by these generous initiatives,” MoECST said.
“These must-have school supplies will go a long way toward meeting the educational needs of students and easing the financial burden on their families,” echoed the U.S. Embassy.
The United States Embassy said the United States is a proud supporter of democracy, security, and prosperity and is committed to a strong partnership with Belize.
