UMC delivers school supplies to Brown Elementary School in Lubbock

This year marks the 13th year that University Medical Center employees have donated school supplies to students at Brown Elementary School. UMC Legal and Compliance and UMC EMS delivered the school supplies to the school on Tuesday.

“UMC has been participating in Lubbock ISD’s Partners in Education program for many years,” said Kristi Duske, senior vice president and general counsel, who coordinates our partnership with Brown. “As part of its participation in the program, UMC sponsors an annual school supply drive for Brown Elementary. UMC and its employees welcome service opportunities not only at the bedside, but also in the community. I have always found that UMC and its employees have a generous heart with a passion for helping those in need. This annual event is just one example of this attitude.

This year, alongside the collection of school supplies, UMC also donated $ 246 for the school teachers’ breakfast, as well as $ 500 for the Brown Elementary Community Picnic.

UMC has sponsored Brown Elementary, through the Partners in Education program, since 2008. Since then, UMC has organized many activities and provided support in different ways depending on what the school identifies as needs. In addition to providing school supplies each year, the hospital provides food bags for students to eat outside of school. UMC also hosts a Brown Elementary Staff Appreciation Dinner every year.
