CHICAGO — Residents of the Northwest Side are encouraged to drop off school supplies this week so kids can get them this weekend at a local farmer’s market.

Community group Portage Park Mutual Aid is organizing the collection, according to organizers. School supplies of all kinds can be dropped off through Saturday at Moonflower Bar, 4359 N. Milwaukee Ave. The bar is open from 4:30 p.m. to midnight from Wednesday to Thursday and from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. from Friday to Saturday.

On Sundays, families can stock up at the Portage Park Aid Tent at the Portage Park Farmer’s Market. They are available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or while supplies last on North Long Avenue and West Irving Park.

Those interested in volunteering to carry supplies can sign up through the form here.

A list of school supplies that can be donated is available on the Portage Park Mutual Aid Facebook page. General donations to Portage Park Mutual Aid can be made online.
